Where to wear gemstones
This is a question, which is very often asked by people and is even debated between astrologers. Some of the astrologers are of the opinion that the gemstones should be worn on fingers in rings, whereas some prescribe them in the form of lockets and amulets.
The argument in favour of lockets is that the gems are away from public gaze and they do not undergo wear and tear. Thus, the properties of the gem remain intact. Also the gem does not come in contact with filth as no one touches it. Another argument is that if a native uses locket, then he experiences a Ratna Snan whenever he takes bath. It is said that this is very auspicious. Moreover, if combination of gems is used then it is very easy to make a locket and wear them.
The wearing of gemstones in the form of rings is widely popular and many astrologers have felt that their efficacy is very high when worn in the form of rings. Their argument is that the gems worn in the form of a locket do touch the skin but they are not effective in transferring the sun energy to the body as they are covered by clothes. In ancient times, people used to wear only lower clothes and for upper region they used to wear only a piece of cloth around the neck, which is more like a stole of modern day. The shirt like clothes was not used at all. Hence, in those conditions wearing of gems in lockets worked equally well as these were never covered. In those times armlets and amulets studded with gems were also popular as these places were also exposed and were equally beneficial. But in today's times, the rings are the best way of wearing gemstones. An added benefit is that they act as ornaments also, in addition to providing benefits.
Further, the lockets do not come in contact with any nerve endings. But the fingers are having definite nerve endings and these are very sensitive points. This is recognized by medical science also and these nerve endings are used in many other healing systems like acupuncture, acupressure etc. This gives a logical reason for prescribing wearing of gemstones on fingers.
Sine the purpose of wearing a gemstone is to channelise the energy to a person through the medium of Gemstone; hence, wearing it on a finger seems to be a better way. With this the nerve endings come into use and the cosmic energy via the medium of a gemstone gets transferred to the native very effectively. This gives very fast and effective results relating to the effects of the planet associated with the Gemstone.
